Pros and cons of non-removable battery design

Nowadays the hardware technology of cellphone develops in geometric. With high-speed chip and high-resolution screen people acquire wonderful recreation experience on cellphone. But it seems the battery performance doesn't keep up the pace. Actually real progress in battery technology is hardly to find except the non-removable battery design driven by iPhone. Accustomed to removable battery for a long time, many people are curious about a fixed battery as yet. So what are its advantages and disadvantages? This article will elaborate this battery technology.

Pros
1. Slim appearance
What contributes most to the popularity of iPhone? Maybe the appearance design does. At least for most ordinary people, this slim gadget rapidly caught our eyes after we had get tired of those big and thick Nokia or Blackberry cellphones. And the non-removable battery design is the very key to the slim appearance.

For a cellphone with non-removable battery design, it's no need to present the battery out to user or leave space between the battery and the back cover. This makes the internal space very compact.

2. Solid body
As the cellphone body and the back cover are no longer separated, the unibody design becomes very popular. Besides Apple iPhone, the HTC applies the unibody design to most of its products. The aluminum alloy shell can prevent the cellphone from  falling apart.
On the other hand the unibody makes it possible to design a waterproof shell. See the Sony Xperia Z below.

3. More safe
For people who use a cellphone with removable battery design it's common to carry more than one backup battery and charger. But not everyone will buy another original battery or charger as their price is a bit high. Non-original battery and charger inevitably have some incompatibility with the cellphone. They may damage the cellphone after long time use. Let alone some inferior battery. They can even cause explosion!

So the non-removable battery design improves the safety factor of a cellphone to a certain extent. Anyhow the original parts are strictly tested and have better quality.

Cons
1. Last short
This is the biggest shortage of non-removable batter design. Portable equipment like cellphone couldn't use a big battery. It can't last long usually. Replacing battery is almost the only choice when the battery is run out when you don't have charger at side. But what if you see a low battery notification on your iPhone screen when you are not at home or office?

As a communication tool, function is more important than appearance. It's very necessary to keep the cellphone fully charged. The non-removable battery design sacrifices performance and function for appearance. This is unwise and unacceptable. What if you just miss some important calls and messages during the period of searching a place to charge your cellphone? So just say No to non-removable battery design!

2. High price
Due to safety issues, a cellphone with non-removable battery design requires a very high progress. In addition an artistic appearance design needs expensive material and manufacturing technique. These all result in high price.

3. Hard to dismantle
The battery eventually gets aged after long time use. For ordinary users it's impossible to replace the built-in battery as it's soldered on the PCMA or maybe the whole body is sealed that you can't open. So the only choice is to send your cellphone to customer service. This takes much time and money.
