Amazon has just released a software update for the new Kindle Kids Edition which came out back in October.
The new firmware version is 5.13.0.9 which adds access to over 1,000 Audible books in the Kindle's kid-friendly library.
Though there’s no download link for the latest Kindle firmware in Kindle E-Reader Software Updates page, it says that this software update automatically download and install on your Kindle when connected wirelessly. And there’s no official announcement on the Kindle support pages that this update can support audiobooks.

Amazon just released a new firmware developed for several of its Kindle devices, which is version 5.12.3. Version 5.12.3 is available for all Kindles dating back to the Kindle Voyage, and according to the What’s New page： • The update adds Library Badges to Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited books. KPP is likely undergoing internal testing and planned to be enabled for customers in a future firmware release.
